Over the years fashion in universities has always stood out for the majority of the students. While trying to balance class, studying, work, and social life, it can be hard to stay up to date with the latest trends. Here we’ll give you some of the ways students in United States International University dress and how to feel confident and look good while still staying busy during the school year. Comfort is Key when thinking about waking up early and heading to class; comfort is the first thing that comes to mind. A common misconception is that you have to sacrifice style for comfort, but this isn’t always the case. Here are a few comfortable items that still allow you to show off your style. These are must-haves for college and they include; a good pair of jeans, black leggings, a purpose T-shirt, converse or a pair of comfortable shoes, a cute simple dress, a pair of sandals, a blouse, a jacket, etc.
Although we would all like to wear t-shirts and leggings every single day, we have to remember to keep things practical. Not every class or event you may be required to attend will allow the laid-back, comfy look. For instance, while having a class presentation one should be smart and look presentable in front of others. Owning a pair of denim jeans is a no-brainer, and it’s a step up from wearing sweatpants and leggings while still being more casual. Jeans are perfect for going to class. Different types of jeans can be perfect for different types of occasions. Wear a pair of distressed jeans for a casual day running errands or hanging out with friends, Wear a pair of dark wash or black jeans paired with a button-up blouse and heels or doll shoes for a business casual look. With the right pair of jeans, you can’t go wrong.
A lot of presentations, interviews, and possibly internships you want to dress to impress in these situations to make a good first impression. This is where business casual wear comes into play in terms of university fashion. You don’t have to own a ton of these items; just a few that you can mix and match. It is essential to have a nice dress, a few blouses, and a good pair of pants. Try palazzo pants, or the classic plaid for a trendy, business casual look.
I talked to one of my colleagues, Samantha who has a love for fashion and style. She expressed “the idea of showing up and being able to express myself through my outfits makes me want to dress up and that encourages me to go to school often”.
Fashion has always been a simple way of expressing how you feel inside on a particular day. Dressing down and keeping it simple on a certain day and being extra on another can be associated with how one feels on different type off days.
